ULTRASOUND SOLUTIONS CORP. is delighted to welcome back Robert C. Moody, Jr., PhD, MS, BS, RVT, for a discussion regarding the impact of the increased incidence of workplace violence on medical imaging professionals.
Course Description:
Medical imaging professionals, such as Sonographers, when exposed to violent events at work, are subject to the long-term consequences associated with those experiences. This course explores the genesis of violent conflict in clinical settings, identifying risk factors for this conflict, and describes potential solutions to avoid further violence. For medical imaging professionals, this course enhances their awareness of the prevalence of violent conflict and the dangers it represents to them. For hospital/clinical administrators, this course will make them aware that conflict does not occur in a vacuum and that there may be systemic implications if violence is not appropriately addressed. For medical imaging vendors, this course may help them create and sell products that enhance the safety not only for patients, but also for medical imaging professionals conducting diagnostic imaging. Addressing violence is a team effort, and with appropriate buy-in, this type of conflict can be reduced significantly. (Approved for 1 SDMS CME credit, provided one is present for the entire event.)
Course Objectives:Upon completion of this educational activity, the participant will be able to:
Identify and describe the sources of violence in healthcare settings.
Explain conflict genesis from multiple lenses.
Describe the different perspectives of violent conflict in medical settings.
State how to de-escalate potentially violent situations.
Describe how to advocate for enhanced safety measures for employees.
