Course Description:

Every scan tells a story, and so do the conversations that happen before, during, and after the exam. As Sonographers, your communication style can ease patient fears, reduce conflict, and build stronger partnerships with physicians. In this interactive session, you’ll gain practical tools to handle difficult situations while maintaining professionalism and compassion. (Approved for 1 SDMS CME credit, provided one is present for the entire event)

Course Objectives: Upon completion of this educational activity, the participant will be able to:

• Understand how to use simple communication strategies to calm anxious or frustrated patients during exams
• Navigate tough conversations with physicians while maintaining professionalism and respect
• Recognize and manage your own stress responses to challenging interactions
• Apply empathy-driven language that builds patient trust and cooperation
• Demonstrate ready-to-use scripts and techniques to handle difficult situations with confidence

About Our Speaker:

Laurie-Ann Murabito, BS, RVT, RDCS, is a Sonographer whose career began with direct patient care and quickly advanced to leadership training and development. She took those skills and transformed her career with a Fortune 500 medical device company – demonstrating how patient outcomes equate to improved return on investments and employee engagement. She uses her 20+ years of experience as an executive leadership coach, speaker, and author supporting her clients to lead and have a bigger impact. 

Laurie-Ann is the author of “Rethink Leadership”, “Rethink Your Leadership”, several workbooks on emotional intelligence and is the host of the “Be In Demand” Podcast.      

Besides her sonography and education credentials, Laurie-Ann is a member of the National Speakers Associations (NSA) and has experience coaching leaders across the globe in healthcare and other industries.  

This activity is an approved SDMS CME activity – approved for 1.0 SDMS CME credit.

Please note that partial credit will not be issued.

The CME participant roster will be reported by Ultrasound Solutions Corp. to the

SDMS CME Tracker System.

Important update from the SDMS:

SDMS no longer allows its CME providers to issue Partial Credit for attendance. If you join late or leave early, the SDMS will no longer permit us to award partial pro-rated credit.

Therefore, from now on, in order to receive CME credit, you must be in attendance for the ENTIRE event via your own unique Zoom link that Zoom emailed to you when you registered. Then, and only then, will USC be able to award you any credit. So, please be prompt and attentive to the time schedule. We apologize for any inconvenience, but again, this is a new SDMS policy we must abide by. Thank you for understanding.
