Course Description:
Assessment of the mesenteric vessels is always a challenge. For Sonographers who are novices as well as those who are more seasoned, this course has been designed to provide an overview of the mesenteric vascular exam. Topics will include anatomy and common pathology. Exam indications, protocols, and diagnostic criteria for mesenteric ischemia will also be discussed. (Approved for 1 SDMS CME credit)
Course Objectives:
Upon completion of this educational activity, the participant will be able to:
- Identify the mesenteric vasculature
- Describe common pathologies that may affect the mesenteric system
- Discuss how to approach the patient with suspected mesenteric ischemia and what the diagnostic criteria are
About Our Speaker:
Cathie Scholl, DHSc, RDMS, RVT, is an experienced sonographer and educator in multiple ultrasound specialties, including Abdomen, OB/GYN, Breast, and Vascular imaging. She currently holds the postion of Associate Professor within the Cardiovascular Sonography Program at Nova Southeastern University in Tampa, Florida. Cathie also volunteers for the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonography as a Subject Matter Expert and serves on the editorial board of the Journal of Diagnostic Medical Sonography. In her free time, she works in an outpatient radiology facility and enjoys the beautiful Gulf Coast!
