Echocardiology: Its Crucial Role for Cardio-Oncology Patients

March 4 @ 7:00 pm 8:00 pm EST

ULTRASOUND SOLUTIONS CORP. is pleased to introduce Andrea N. Nicol, MS, RDMS, RVT, RMSKS, RDCS, FASE, Clinical Assistant Professor of Diagnostic Imaging at Quinnipiac University, for an instructional look at cardiac sonography’s invaluable contributions when assessing oncology patients.

Course Description:

This educational seminar provides background information, tools, and advanced assessments in echocardiology for the cardio-oncology patient population. Participants will learn the effects chemotherapy has on the human heart and what cardiotoxic conditions a sonographer should be on alert for. The course will then dive into the importance of acquiring precise LV 3D and strain analysis, along with processing for values to be reported out and routinely followed. Participants will learn step-by-step instructions on how to optimize their 2D images to improve frame rate and speckle tracking before learning how to accurately obtain and then manipulate their image analysis via post-processing. The importance of ultrasound enhancement agents in the cardio-oncology patient population will also be explained and stressed. Participants will gain a comprehensive understanding of how to correctly identify cardio-oncology complications using a combination of echocardiographic imaging and artificial intelligence. (Approved for 1 SDMS CME credit, provided one is present for the entire event)

Course Objectives: Upon completion of this educational activity, the participant will be able to:

  • State Cardio-Oncology patient risk factors.
  • Discuss Left Ventricular 3D image processing and analysis.
  • Review Left Ventricular Strain processing and analysis.
  • Discuss the use of ultrasound enhancement agents.
